Ever since
humanity started to paint records of accomplishments on the walls of caves
Whether to
record efforts to take land by sword or to by sword a nation save
There has
always been a band of heroes to whom we will always owe a great and lasting
debt
A band of
heroes that never seems to completely disappear and are known as vets
The history
of humanity is sadly not dominated by art, science, or romance
But too
often by warriors with guns, cannon, swords and lance
Whether in
war or in rare interludes of peace
Honor the
vets who died or kept the dogs of war from being released
These men
and women who served or who are serving now are the heroes in any sense of the
word
And for a
pathetic journalist at Salon.com to assert otherwise is totally absurd
It should be
our fondest and most desired wish that there will come a day
When nations
or groups no longer are compelled to others slay
Until that Utopia
finally finds its way into our hearts and minds
Our vets
will be the heroes to have to man the thin khaki or camo line
Today on
Veterans Day marked by a lack of mail and sales in the malls
How do you
honor those who serve or those who gave their all?
An easy
step, painless for the majority who have not served
An easy way
to the memory of the sacrifice of vets preserve
Thank anyone
you know who put on a uniform and served
Better yet,
donate the shopping savings to Wounded Warriors for the care they deserve.
