It’s summer
time and what better way to celebrate that go to the beach
Warm sand,
crashing waves, birds soaring, fresh air all within reach
It used to be
that all you had to fear would be a sun burn or rip tides
Now we find
more dangers at the beach, bacteria in the waters that hide
Before one
runs at full speed or gingerly wades in as the ocean waves crash
Beware of
the bugs of dysentery, hepatitis, stomach flu and all sorts of rash
According to
a study just released the bacteria failure rate is at ten percent
If contemplating
a day swimming as opposed to viewing the thongs maybe not the way to have a day
spent
One of the worst
offenders is in California in the waters next to the Malibu Pier
Can you
believe in the land of Surfin Safari
and Little Surfer Girl not what you want to hear?
Even in
Alaska the beach failure rate comes in at 24 percent second highest on the list
But given
the water temperatures there, the urge to go swimming is easy to resist
Sad state of
affairs with too much dumping and runoff of untreated waste
With roads
and bridges in sad shape probably not enough funds to spare to storm drains
into treatment plants place
So this
summer in addition to lots of sun block one needs to the bacteria level check
If one can
all those disease above mentioned try to deflect
