Dad Dies In House Fire Trying To Save 3yr Old

The news out of Buffalo brings tears to one’s eye

The heroism of a young father who in a house fire dies

He carried his badly burned daughter to safety and as flames continued to engulf his home

He went back into the inferno, back into the deadly, killing zone

Searching in panic for his three year old son

The deadly embrace of heat and smoke he did not shun

This young father died before his son he could find

Finding a small boy in a room is like being blind

A fireman with more training found and saved the boy

But three children now are without the love and knowledge of a father to enjoy

Demetrius Johnson may have become a father at only sixteen

And his children may have been borne out of wedlock

But for his courage and willingness for a son to buy the farm

Head back into a raging inferno, back into deadly harm

There should be space waiting in heaven for this young man

Died too soon at 24, such a short life span
