Private Citizen Saves Toronto Almost $50K

When it comes to fraud, abuse and sheer waste
There are other governments than the Swamp to lambaste
When cities or other bodies have a project to build it’s other people’s money they must spend
No wonder in an era of unaccountability or job loss over budget is the never ending trend
In Toronto there was a need to build a flight of stairs in a public park
Prevent patrons from slipping on a slope in the day or in the dark
The pigs sensing the public pork trough was about ready to be filled were quick to bids submit
$50-150 grand enough to cause one retiree a real case of the anger fits
Off to Home Depot for materials and to neighbors’ help enlist
For $500 a wooden flight of stairs painted white on the slope now exists
From the mayor a sense of fiscal gratitude?
No outrage a taxpayer saving money chose to intrude
Do not be surprised if the idiots in the Toronto City Hall
Tear it down and rebuild to further attempts at saving money stall
Saving money and being under budget is in Toronto a bad rap that gives bureaucrats a bad name
What to expect from the city that had Rob Ford as its major infamous for smoking crack cocaine
