July 23, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Parents' Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For July 23, 2017 The hysteria of the Russian collusion delusion among the left and the MSM continues unabated as all indications point to Trump signing the Russian sanctions bill (news flash to the Waters, Pelosi, and Schumers of the world the threat to our democracy rests with the Blue idiots of the Swamp who will not accept the simple fact that Trump won and a felon lost); if you want another reason to build the wall look no further to the case of Jesus Lopez an illegal from Mexico who was arrested for arson of an apartment building in Charlotte, North Carolina that has left 130 people now homeless; in another example of how justice is not blind but completely deranged, a man in Texas is facing potential jail time for back child support even though DNA testing shows the child was not fathered by him; in another example of the scumbag nature of human traffickers and why sanctuary cities should be outlawed, a semi was parked in a San Antonio Wal-Mart parking lot with 38 illegals crammed inside, 9 of whom died; hell hath no fury than a women scorned and tropical storm Hillary will be upgraded to hurricane status; through July 22, 2110 people have been shot in Chicago 369 of whom have died (sadly the ATF agents Trump has sent has not put a damper on the carnage).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Steven Winwood; factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote on the interaction between parents and children, hoping you do not have to put up with a day of speeches by people who are insulse,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. World Sjögren’s Daycommemorating the birth of Doctor Henrik Sjögren, a Swedish ophthalmologist who discovered in 1933 Sjögren’s Disease, an autoimmune disease that causes white blood cells to turn on the moisture producing glands causing dry mouth, fatigue, dry eye and joint pain and affects some 4,000,000 Americans.
2. Parents’ Day—created by President Bill Clinton in 1994 to honor the contributions of parents, birth, step and adoptive to the raising and education of their children.
3. 1988 Number One Song—the number one song in 1988 on a run of 4 weeks in that position was “Roll With It” by  Steve Winwood. Here is his performance of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWptXUblA4E
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “insulse” which means lacking wit, dull, or stupid which describes too many of our politicians and bureaucrats to a tee.
5. One of the First Victims of the War on Women—ironic that on the day tropical storm Hillary is upgraded to a hurricane, today is the day we celebrate the birthday in 1973 of Monica Lewinsky whose two year affair almost brought down President Bill Clinton (the thought of that predator roaming the halls of the White House to this day sends shivers down this poet’s back).
On this day in:
a. 1829 William Burt patented the typographer the precursor to the typewriter.
b. 1885 former president Ulysses S. Grant a heavy cigar smoker died of throat cancer.
c. 1962 from a communications standpoint the world became a very small place when Telstar transmitted the first live trans-Atlantic television broadcast featuring Walter Cronkite.
d. 1972 NASA launched into orbit the first Earth Resources Satellite Landsat I.
e. 1982 actor Vic Morrow and two children were killed when a helicopter crashed onto them while they were filming a scene in Twilight Zone: the Movie.
Reflections on the on parents: “A parent who never apologizes to his children is a monster. If he is always apologizing, his children are monsters.” Anon   Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs.
