Ridley’s Believe It Or
Not For July 6, 2017
The obese delusional leader of North Korea shows no sign of backing down on its
ICBM program and China and Russia show no signs of stepping up to the plate
(given the proximity of Seoul to the border and a growing realization of the insanity
of believing sanctions will have any effect we face the increasing likelihood of
the need to nuke North Korea back to the stone age); Trump is visiting Poland
before meeting with Putin during the G-20 Meeting in Germany; Rep. Scalise is
back in the ICU; CNN facing more backlash as it threatens to identify the maker
of the anti-Trump video if he reneges on his promise not make any more such
videos; the number of police being
killed in the line of duty has risen by 18%; Emily Lance wins the prize for
stupidity and vulgarity for her Facebook video of her urinating on an American flag; the height of total inanity is
being displayed by a few deranged Blue members of the House who want to use the
25th Amendment to remove Trump as president (agree with him or
disagree with him but these idiots are worthy of total scorn only);
through July 4, in July 90 people have been shot in Chicago 12 of whom have
died (hopefully the ATF agents Trump has sent in will help put a damper on this
carnage.
As always,
I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Captain
and Tennille, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote by
George W. Bush, bemoaning that we still do not have a bill to replace the
incondite Obamacare, secure
in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events
like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide
you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the
event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1.
National Fried Chicken Day—celebrating
that unique American staple.
2. National
Air Traffic Control Day—created in 1986 by joint resolution of Congress and signed by President
Reagan, the same president who fired all air traffic controllers who went on
strike.
3. 1975 Number One Song—the number one song in
1975 on a run of 4 weeks in that position was “Love Will Keep Us Together”
by Captain and Tennille. Here is a performance by the duo of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjloX_EvYiI
4. Word
of the Day—today’s word of the day is “incondite” which means poorly constructed
which describes Obamacare to a tee.
5. Forty-Three
By a Chad—bemoaning or celebrating depending on one’s point of view, the
birth on this day in 1946 of George W. Bush, the 43rd president of
the United States.
On this day
in:
a. 1919 the British dirigible
R34
landed in New York, becoming the first airship to cross the Atlantic.
b. 1933 the first Major
League All-Star Baseball Game was played in Chicago’s Comiskey Park with the American League beating the National
League 4-2.
c. 1944 Jackie Robinson
refused an order to move to the back of the bus leading to his court martial where
he was acquitted.
d. 1947 the AK 47 went
into production in the Soviet Union.
e. 1990 the Electronic Freedom
Foundation was formed.
Reflections form a former president that Obama should heed: “I have zero desire,
just so you know, to be in the limelight. I don't think it's good for the
country to have a former president criticize his successor. You're not going to
see me giving my opinions in the public arena, until I start selling my book. I'm going to emerge then submerge.”
