St. Patrick's Day Erin Go Bragh''

Tis a day to find the pot of gold or put a shamrock in your hair
A day when green rules supreme and bagpipe notes fill the air
Look for the eyes that are smiling and hold on to your heart
For getting closer to the angels singing it may wish to depart
On this day we all become Irish and follow this law
Wearing green and proclaiming Erin go Bragh
For a moment change your name to Danny waiting for the pipes to blow
A day to rise above the melting pot and let your Irish heritage show
Blessed are those born on this day especially a first born son
With St. Patrick watching your back the world with your deeds will be stunned
There are no more snakes to find and chase into the sea away
Only the vestigial demons of prejudice against the Irish which thank God are no longer on display
A meal of soda bread, corned beef and cabbage or lamb stew
Maybe washed down with a Harps or Guinness brew
A hug with a colleen and maybe a chance to fulfill a romantic wish
A chance to wear a button to receive a sought after kiss
“Erin go Bragh” today is the cry
Shortly in our melting pot it will be Cinco de Mayo and tequila to try
