Evening Iditarod
Mushing Report for March 16
More and more mushers
are finally reaching Nome but being trailed by dozens who will not be
celebrating in an Irish Pub singing When Irish Eyes Are Smiling or otherwise
toasting to friends with a Guinness or a Bushmills. No new quits on this race
and the number of that stands at twelve. Here are the standings of those
mushers now only motivated not by prize money but rather the desire not to
quit.

Ellen Helverson is
still in the lock on the Red Lantern in last place out of Kaltag a long, long around 340-330 miles
away from Nome depending on where she is on the trail. Note the twins are still
proving twin blood is thicker that Iditarod race water and are mushing a few
minutes apart. The oldest woman still on the course and the woman who has competed
in probably mor Iditarods that any female DeeDee Jonrowe, in White Mountain 77
miles away from Nome ready to sprint against Monica Zappa with her colorful
duds right behind her. More results tomorrow as to the great relief of the
mushers, more and more of them cross the finish line.
