          Noted Holidays: Roe v. Blue caucus and voted with the Reds to pass Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act might want to encourage their Blue colleagues to read Joshua Prager’s article on Shelly Thornton in the September 9, 2021 issue of The Atlantic.”

          Notable Events that occurred on January 23:
          1.     1957—George Metesky, aka The Mad Bomber, a ConEd employee who was injured in the workplace and felt he was never appropriately compensated, was arrested for planting 32 bombs in public places, 16 of which exploded to injure 15 persons where after interrogation admitted to the acts and was adjudged mentally incompetent to stand trial and confined to a mental institution and then released after being confined to 2/3 of the sentence that would have been imposed.
          2.     1970—Boeing’s 747 the world’s first jumbo jet commenced service between NYC’s J.F.K. International Airport and London’s Heathrow Airport with its maiden flight which would open the skies to many passengers who previously could not afford air travel.
          3.     1984—In one of the most iconic TV commercials of all times during Superbowl XVII Apple’s MacIntosh personal computer with its mouse and graphical interface is introduced.
          4.     2002—Kmart became the largest American retailer to file for Chapter XI Bankruptcy protection and whatever turnaround protection was hoped to be the result did not come about as only 20 Kmart stores in the U.S. and its territories are now in operation.
          5.     2009—President Obama signed an executive order closing the terrorists detention center at Guantanamo Bay, the implementation of which was blocked by Congressional opposition.
