            1. Independence Day—celebrating the signing of one of the iconic documents for freedom—our Declaration of Independence in 1776—Proud to be an American!       
            2. National Barbecue Day—what better way to celebrate the 4th after watching a parade and listening to some Sousa classics than to fire up the barbecue.
On this day in:
           a. 1966 in one of the great moments for transparency in our government, President Lyndon Baines Johnson signed into law the Freedom of Information Act.
           b. 2004 the cornerstone of the Freedom Tower was laid at the World Trade Center site.
           c. 2009 the Statute of Liberty’s crown was reopened to the public after eight years of closure following the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
