In Chicago
over the 4th it was hardly safe or sane
Bullets
flying through the sky more numerous than a monsoon rain
82 people
shot in 84 hours with 14 killed
One an hour
is a steep butcher’s bill
But even
with that recent bloody toll
Murders are
still on the downward numbers roll
How can a city
celebrate independence when there is a good chance of being shot?
Unsafe
streets, moral and ethical widespread growing rot
Even though
the numbers of murders continue to go down
Chicago remains
a very, very unsafe and deadly town
The city
needs in some of its gang infested neighborhoods a police surge
To somehow
put a damper on the gun violence urge
Whether the
murder rate is on a downward decline or not
No
condolences to the 82 residents of Chicago who have just been shot.
