It is almost
like a déjà vu from the Vietnam War
A maize of
tunnels hiding death and destruction on that distant shore
Deep
underground from air strikes almost immune
The war of
the tunnel rats did not end quickly nor soon
The tunnels
of Cu Chi were a huge underground Viet Cong base
Now Israel
fighting Hamas is trying to lay its tunnels to waste
Like moles
burrowing underground Hamas is using tunnels to enter and try to kill in the
Jewish state
While over
head its rockets impaling on Iron Dome in numbers do not abate
As the U.S.
learned in Vietnam a tunnel network from the air is hard to destroy
No wonder
after weeks of rockets the IDF needs boots on the ground to deploy
One can only
hope Hamas does not have the skill set in tunnels of the Viet Cong
Or this
invasion to destroy them will be bloody and prolonged
Images of
small men fighting underground in the dark pistols and knives in hand
Tunnel wars
are without glory only screams of the wounded and blood on the sand
