Day for International Justice—observed since 2010 to promote
the International Criminal Court and the emerging international criminal law.
2. Yellow
Pig Day--celebrating
at Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics for 34 years to extol the
properties of the number 17 and decorate the students’ shirts with yellow pigs.
3. Wrong
Way Corrigan Day—commemorating Douglas
“Wrong Way” Corrigan’s flight on this day in 1938 not back to Long Beach, California
but to Ireland claiming instrument error.
4. National
Peach Ice Cream Day—celebrating one of the great summer ice creams,
especially when topped with fresh peaches.

Medicine was established; it was the first dental school in the U.S. affiliated
with a university.

heads of State Francois Mitterrand of France and Helmut Kohl of Germany.
