Ridley's Believe It Or Not July 18 History Nelson Mandela International Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not—July 18, 2014:  Totally skunked today on holidays other that Nelson Mandela International Day but at least found a few factoids and a quote by Nelson Mandela for you to enjoy.
           1. Nelson Mandela International Day —a UN holiday celebrated since 2010 to honor the contributions of Nelson Mandela to the cause of social justice.
           2. National Caviar Day--celebrating that great salted delicacy fish roe.
On this day in:
           a. 1925 Adolf Hitler published his personal manifesto Mein Kampf which sadly not enough people read or took seriously.
           b. in 1968 Intel was founded in Mountain View, California.
           c. in 1969 Ted Kennedy after a party on Chappaquiddick Island, Senator Ted Kennedy after one too many drove his car of the bridge killing his passenger Mary Jo Kopechne.
           d. in 2013, the City of Detroit with over $20 billion in debt filed for the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.
A reflective thought on day this honoring the life of Nelson Mandela “For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others” Nelson Mandela
