Ridley's Believe It Or Not August 1 History International Beer Day



Ridley's Believe It Or Not—August 1, 2014:  Another meager day of holidays but you are probably on vacation anyway and are already celebrating. Hope you enjoy what is posted, along with the factoids and quote from Doug Ferrarri with a smile on your face, a slice of raspberry cream pie on a plate, and a cold brew.
           1. International Beer Day—celebrated on the first Friday in August since 2007 to enjoy the taste of beers from all over the world from the largest breweries to the micro-brews.
           2. U.S. Air Force Day—created by proclamation of President Truman on August 1, 1947 to recognize the establishment and accomplishments of the U.S. Air Force.
            3. Braham Pie Day---celebrating not a pie eating contest with Brahmin contestants but rather the reality of a pie festival celebrated on this day in Braham, MN.
            4. National Raspberry Cream Pie Day—another great desert treat especially with ice cream as raspberries rule supreme.
On this day in
             a. 1907 the Scouting movement is born with the first scout camp on Brownsea Island.
             b. 1966 Charles Whitman climbed on to the observation deck of the Texas Tower on the University  of Texas and killed 16 before being killed by police..
             c. 1981 MTV began broadcasting by airing its first video Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles.
