Ridley's Believe It Or Not August 17 History Black Cat Appreciation Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not—August 17, 2015 Trust your weekend was a great one and your batteries are fully charged ready to meet any challenges facing you and as always I hope you enjoy Monday’s holidays and observances,  factoids of interest, music videos by Les Paul and Mary Ford and Miles Davis, a relevant quote under oath by President Clinton, looking forward to enjoying a dish of vanilla custard, blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable event like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
       1. Black Cat Appreciation Day—not sure why this holiday is not celebrated on Halloween or any and all Friday the 13’s when black cats are linked to bad luck and are to be avoided. This poet appreciates all cats regardless of color provided they always visit their litter box and use religiously their cat scratching posts.                              2. National What Is “Is” Day—bemoaning President’s semantic dancing while testifying before a grand jury investigating the Monica Lewinsky scandal.  Ironic in a deju vu moment another Clinton is bobbing and weaving over potential criminal activity on classified material on her private server.
       3. 1953 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1953 on a run of eleven weeks in that position Vaya con Dios by Les Paul and Mary Ford.  Here is a link to Les Paul and Mary Ford performing Vaya con Dios: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqZ0Sdz_V40
      4. National Vanilla Custard Day—celebrating another tasty way to end a meal.
      5. This Delphi Has No Stones—celebrating on this day in 1944 the birthday of Larry Ellison, a college dropout and founder of Oracle who coming in at $50 billion makes Donald Trump look like a vagrant, especially if he follows through and spends $1 billion to run for office.
On this day in:
       a. 1807 Robert Fulton’s steamboat the North River Steamboat left New York City for Albany, New York marking the first commercial steamboat service in the world.
       b. 1896 Bridget Driscoll had the unenviable distinction of being the first pedestrian fatality in the U.K. after being run over by a Benz auto on the grounds of the Crystal Palace in London.
       c. 1953 the first meeting of Narcotics Anonymous was held in Southern California.
       d. 1959 Kind of Blue, the best selling and most influential jazz album of all time was released by Miles Davis. Here is a link to the album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbxtYqA6ypM
       e. 1998 President Clinton admitted to the American people that he misled the nation over his relationship with Monica Lewinsky; ironic that another Clinton is faced with a growing scandal in which 58% in one poll believe she is lying and Bob Woodward who broke the Watergate Scandal that cost Nixon his presidency is comparing her conduct to Nixon’s conduct during Watergate.
Reflections on why Americans dislike lawyers and their legalese and why in the end  the American people believe in increasing numbers that she lied about her server, the issue of classified material and the wiping of only personal emails: “It depends on what your meaning of 'is' is.  If 'is' means 'is and never has been' that's one thing - if it means 'there is none,' that was a completely true statement.” President Clinton before a grand jury
