Bastille Day At Starbucks

Too long the taverns and pubs have replaced churches as a gathering place
Searching for companionship, looking for a friendly face, falling further from grace
Belief in God in the Christian world continues to erode
No wonder we see a jihadist view of the world grow more bold
Here is an idea that may not end the faith decline
But in part restore our belief in a Higher Power’s design
Get out of one’s car and go to a Starbuck’s to sit and coffee or tea to partake
Start up a conversation with a total stranger to feel the walls begin to break
More so when the stranger is sipping a ceramic cup filled with Pike
And the poet is on this day savoring a French Roast more to his like
A woman of faith especially one with a occasional yawn is a rare breed
Clearly in time of chaos what this country needs
Homer can in out of the cold to recite line after line of the Trojan War
This poet can only hope his four lines helps this teacher’s lesson to listening ears soar
A woman named probably due to her soccer skills as swift
Clearly to those touched by her faith and smile is a treasured gift
