Ridley's Believe It Or Not—September 28. 2014: Trust
your weekend is proving to be a great one and that you enjoy the holidays and factoids
and quote from Alan Moore with a smile on your sunscreened face, with a slice
of strawberry cream pie near, blessed with a positive attitude, and secure in
the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for a memorable event, you know
that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem tailored to
the event and the recipient.
1. World Rabies Day—another U.N. observance since 2007 to promote
awareness of rabies which is a terrible disease and the shots after being
bitten by an infected animal are not a walk in the park.
2. Freedom From Hunger Day—celebrated since
2006 to create awareness of the problem of hunger both here and especially in
the world.
3. Gold
Star Mothers’ Day—honoring the mothers of this nation who have lost
their children while they were serving in times of war.
4. National Drink
Beer Day—fortunately a holiday which is celebrated only one day a year;
otherwise we not get anything done.
5. National
Strawberry Cream Pie Day—celebrating a great dessert.
On this day in

which later became known as penicillin.
b. 1951 CBS made the first color television sets available for sale to the
public; but after a month sales were discontinued after sales of only 100

c. 2006 SpaceX launched the first
private spacecraft, the Falcon 1, into orbit.

city is dying of rabies. Is the best I can do to wipe random flecks of foam
from its lips? “Alan Moore Watchmen
