Iditarod Tails March 15, 2017 4:00 A.M. The
drama is over and the winner of the Iditarod is now known. 56 year old Mitch
Seavey has won entering Nome yesterday afternoon at 3:40 followed by his son
Dallas almost three hours behind him but 5 minutes ahead of Nicolas Pettit. Joar
Ulsom and Jessie Royer came in 4th
and 5th. There are 61 mushers still on the trail with Cindy Abbot in
last place out of Kaitag only 346 miles away from Nome. 5 mushers have dropped
out. Imagine what courage it must take to be in last place, freezing, with no
human companionship only canine and motivated only by the desire to finish or
perhaps not finish last. Amazing Mush on Cindy Abbot as you are an inspiration
to us all. I had previously thought Alaska due to the dislike by most of its residents
was a Red state but Nicolas Petit coming into Nome in third may have proved me
wrong as his dogs are clad in blue:
