1. Scurvy Awareness Day—creating awareness of how easy it is to eliminate scurvy by
merely eating fruits and vegetables and since Vitamin C is a water soluble
vitamin, don’t toss the water you boiled your spinach in, drink it.
2. Melanoma
Monday—celebrating the need to promote awareness of skin cancer and
what to do to prevent it when in the sun, like sun block, hats and long
sleeves. After a weekend in the sun at the beach or in the park or on the ocean
Monday would be a good day not just this Monday but on all Mondays to check

4. National Truffle Day—celebrating not those rare fungi the French love to use in
cooking but the chocolate balls made with ganache (dark chocolate and cream)
and often stuffed with cherries or liquers.
5. Suck It Up Reduce Trash—celebrating the birthday on this day
in 1947 of James Dyson the inventor of the bagless vacuum cleaner who is the
fourth richest man in England.

a. 1808 the citizens of Madrid rise up against French occupation,
commencing the Peninsula War and memorialized two years by Francisco de Goya’s famous painting The Second of May 1808 and 149 years later by the movie The Pride and the Passion with Cary
Grant, Frank Sinatra and Sophia Loren.

1952 in a beginning of the end moment for steamship travel, the De Havilland
Comet 1, the world’s first commercial jet airliner made its maiden flight from
London to Johannesburg.
c. 1990
President Clinton to the dismay of map companies like Thomas Brothers announced
that GPS Technology would no longer be restricted to the military.
d. 2011 Navy Seal Team Six in a daring
raid right under the nose of a Pakistan Military Academy killed Osama bin Laden
at Abbottabad, Pakistan.
e. 2012 a pastel version of The
Scream by Norwegian painter Edvard Munch was sold at auction for $120
million setting a new record for a painting sold at auction.

humorist.
