Ridley’s
Believe It Or Not For May 10, 2016 Unfortunately
still 255 days to go in President Obama’s pathetic lame duck term. Very exciting political theater as West Virginia,
an important coal mining state that HRC wants to put out of business, votes
today; latest polls show Trump and HRC in a dead heat in Ohio, Pennsylvania and
Florida and on the ISIS front another radical Islamist went on a stabbing
rampage in Germany and for intel purposes was captured alive. Knowing full well
that since HRC is represented by counsel the FBI would never contact her about
testifying before them but she continues to deceive the American public that
she has not be contacted but a dime against a dollar her lawyers have. As money
from Wall Street continues to pour into her campaign, HRC continues to refuse
to release her speech transcripts which probably reveal her advice that Wall
Street has nothing to worry from her administration. As always, I hope your Tuesday
is off to a great start looking forward to enjoying a taco special or better
yet a Popeye’s Fried Chicken two piece special for only $1.49 and that
you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, music links to Mariah Carey
and Bill Haley and His Comets, factoids of interest, a relevant quote
from J. Edgar Hoover, while looking forward to enjoying some shrimp,
blessed with a positive attitude and secure
in the knowledge that, if you want to find a gift for any memorable
events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet
can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price
tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Golden Spike Day—celebrating the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad at
Promontory Summit, Utah with Governor Leland Stanford driving in the ceremonial
golden spike to signify completion.
2. World
Lupus Day—promoting awareness of an autoimmune disease that can damage any
part of the human body but is treatable with drugs.
3. 1996 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1996 on a run of two weeks in that position Always Be My Baby by Mariah Carey. Here’s a link to Mariah
Carey performing Always Be My Baby: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfRNRymrv9k
4. National
Shrimp Day—celebrating really tasty sustainable seafood whether grilled,
boiled or fried; absolutely cannot go wrong with a plate of shrimp or a shrimp
cocktail.
5.
Codependency
Is Not a Mother’s Role—celebrating or observing the birthday on this day
in 1957 of Sid Vicious, the bassist for the punk rock band Sex Pistols who died of a heroin overdose at the age of 22 from
heroin supposedly procured for him by his mother.
On
this day in
a. 1837 banks in New York City announced they
would no longer redeem commercial paper at full face value setting off the
Panic of 1837 which would last for seven years with unemployment as high as 25
percent and a period of banks failing and intense deflation.
b. 1872 Victoria Woodhull of the Equal Rights
Party became the first woman to be nominated to run for President of the United
States. Hopefully, like HRC today, she was unsuccessful.
c. 1924 J. Edgar Hoover was appointed as the
first director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and most likely due to
the files he surreptitiously assembled on most politicians including presidents
remained in office until his death in 1972.
d. 1954 Bill Haley and His Comets released Rock Around the Clock, the first but not
the last rock and roll song to reach number one on Billboard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgdufzXvjqw
e. 2013 One World Trade Center became the
tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
Reflections on the true
source of crime: No amount of law enforcement can solve a
problem that goes back to the family. J. Edgar Hoover Sadly, how true it
is.
