El
Nino storms are bringing California some drought relief
But
our water storage system may lead us to future grief
El
Nino water everywhere and not enough reservoirs to it store
The
snowpack is up but we still need much more
California’s
reservoir system is designed to store only precipitation falling in one year
If
we are experiencing global warming, here is a valid fear
If
precipitation falls as rain in the mountains as opposed to snow
Or
if it falls as snow but due to warmer temps melts faster, it will into the dams
more quickly flow
The
dams may not be able to hold the torrents and over the spillways and into the
ocean it will go
Not
enough seeping into our aquifers below
Rather
than exploring the idiocy of spending billions on a bullet train
We
need to be spending more to build more reservoirs to capture and store more run
off and rain
To
really overcome any future return of crippling drought
Continue
to conserve but build desalinization plants to take from seawater the salt out
