Good Sams come
in all races, ages, and creeds
Ready to
help another human in need
If you want
to be on the public health collapse front line
Get out of
your car and take the time
To board an
OCTA bus after seeing the homeless on the benches sacked out
Quickly to
see the reality of a mental health retreat is all about
On a bus
line known as the 55 a man with hospital band on his wrist
Shaking and
baking the drug or alcohol demons he could no longer resist
Tried to
board without the two dollar fare
So common in
this land of wealth not an occurrence rare
Fumbling
into his pockets for a paltry few coins of change
Hoping that the
coins to a ride to wherever bound would arrange
While the
fellow humans on their bus ride to whatever rat race to find
Clearly
upset, why me delays coming to mind
Save two, this
poet and in front of me a good Sam who was much quicker than me
Who with a
dollar from the bounds immobility this rider was set for this moment was set
free
An act of
kindness that will not be reported on MSNBC or Fox
But his acts
proved that kindness is not locked forever in a box
