Feinstein and the Blue Chip Curse

It is an outrage in the era of partisan gridlock

That 41 Senators can by filibuster an action block

We now find that it gets far, far worse

We now learn of the Blue Slip tradition curse

Any judicial nominee must receive two Blue Slips from the Senators of his or her home state

Or at the urging of Senator Feinstein a failed confirmation must be his or her fate

One Senator with the power to a confirmation fail

That’s a tradition or practice that must be run out of town on a rail

A qualified nominee David Gras who has the misfortune to live in a state with a comic disguised as a Senator

Has failed to get a Blue Slip from Al Franken who loves it when the feds are more lavish expenditors

How Feinstein can defend this practice because Senators are supposed to be in touch with their constituents is a joke

These senators are in touch only with the lobbyists and special interests that donate money—the policy should be revoked

Majority rule and the rule of law while observing Constitutionally protected minority rights

But not observing the rights of a minority of one, a Senator who is mortally infected with partisan blight
