August 15, 2014 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Relaxation Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For August 15, 2016 Only 85 waning days to go for Trump to pivot before we elect a new president and 253 days since Hillary has held a formal press conference (where is the outrage of the press?); growing demands the FBI release the transcripts and tapes of Hillary’ interview; another night of riots in Milwaukee after a black police officer shot and killed a black who pointed a gun and shot at them;  Trump still having difficulty in stay on message which is the economy, security, and illegal immigration by ranting about the bias which most people know exists of the liberal media; he will make major foreign policy address today while fighting accusations that his campaign manager was receiving millions from pro Kremlin sections of Ukraine’s government; Venezuela is being hammered by a malaria outbreak.
On the sports front, six time gold medalist Ryan Lochte and three teammates were robbed at gunpoint in Rio; U.S. leads with 70 total medals.

1. National Failures Day—since the only way to really learn is to sometimes fail, this is a day to acknowledge one’s failures and try to learn from them and move forward and grow.
2. National Relaxation Day—another whimsical holiday which most Americans do not have the luxury of observing as they are working harder than ever to make ends meet in an economy in which income has been stagnant under Obama’s policies.
3. 1974 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1974 on a run of only one week in that position “The Night Chicago Died” by Pepper Lace. Here is a link to Pepper Lace performing “The Night Chicago Died.”  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p- Given the murder rate in Chicago this should be the city’s theme song.
4. National Lemon Meringue Pie Day—celebrating this poet’s favorite pie.
     5. The Secret to Wealth Creation—celebrating the birth on this day in 1964 of Melinda French aka Melinda Gates, spouse of Bill Gates and co-founder of the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation.
On this day in:
a. 1483 Pope Sixtus IV consecrated the Sistine Chapel.
b. 1843 Tivoli Gardens one of the world’s oldest amusement parks still in operation opened.
c. 1914 in a shrinking the  globe moment, the Panama Canal opened to shipping with the USS Ancon being the first cargo ship to transit the Canal.
d. 1939 the Wizard of Oz premiered at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Los Angeles.
e. 1969 the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, the high water mark of the cultural revolution in music, art and the questioning of authority and the Vietnam War  opened in Woodstock, New York.
Reflections on Woodstock: “Hippy is an establishment label for a profound, invisible, underground, evolutionary process. For every visible hippy, barefoot, beflowered, beaded, there are a thousand invisible members of the turned-on underground. Persons whose lives are tuned in to their inner vision, who are dropping out of the TV comedy of American Life.” Timothy Leary Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs.
