November 9, 2016 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Freedom Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 9, 2016 Finally the people have spoken and the pollsters and pundits rightfully should be looking for new jobs as they completely blew it and the lobbyists should be filing claims with their local unemployment office as the swamp will soon be drained; Donald Trump is our next president who will face a difficult task in trying to unite this country. At least he will have an “ally” hopefully in the Senate and House as Republicans retained control of both although we in California will be plagued with another rabid ideologue Harris who defeated a more moderate Blue Loretta Sanchez. For those rabid Hillary supporters in California, they can take some solace in the fact that the voters approved the legalization of recreational marijuana. The question of the hour will be whether Obama pardons Hillary and Bill Clinton in a Ford like manner (assuming of course they and their daughter and anyone affiliated with them or the State Department sever all ties with the Foundation) or whether Trump will announce that his Justice Department will not prosecute assuming the Foundation is dissolved as a step toward unifying this bitterly divided country. Honesty, integrity, and transparency matter more than the amount of ads and ground game, a truism that must be troubling Hillary this morning big time.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Mariah Carey, factoids of interest for this day in history, a
relevant quote from Cal Thomas, while looking forward to enjoying a slice of scrapple (killer and easy recipe below), blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. 2. National Chaos Never Dies Day—another whimsical observance that should not be observed on the day after election of a president and the end of the chaos of a bitter and long fought campaign process.
3. 1990 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1990 on a run of 3 weeks in that position “Love Takes Time” by Mariah Carey. Here is a recording of Mariah Carey performing the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkDpwF6-QiA
4. National Scrapple Day—great way to use pork trimmings like liver, heart, and skin that are mixed with corn meal to form a mushy load that is then fried and served with eggs and pancakes for breakfast. Here is a killer recipe for scrapple: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/scrapple-recipe.html
5. To Bedlam and Not Back—celebrating the birth on this day in 1928 of poet Anne Sexton who published her first book of poetry To Bedlam and Part Way Back and the Pulitzer Prize Winning collection of poetry Live and Die; sadly she committed suicide on October 4, 1974.
On this day in:
a. 1620 Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower sight land at Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Reflections on why Hillary lost and Trump won yesterday: “One of the reasons people hate politics is that truth is rarely a politician's objective. Election and power are. Cal Thomas, noted syndicated columnist and pundit. Trump was not perceived to be a politician; Hillary was the embodiment of a politician with the albatross of 30 plus years of scandals, concealment and dishonest so he won and she did not.  Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs.
