To Fight A Disease

Outside a Starbucks two young women the power to unity on display

Against a disease that is hell bent to destroy all  that gets in its way

90 days  for one listening to a sponsor with a year and a half

Both trying so hard to stay floating in the saving life raft

You cannot keep what you cannot give away

Always a hand extended to display

A disease that when it turns without hesitation kills

But not before racking up the divorce, job loss, and health bills

Two women book in hand going into the breech

Two women one a sponsor trying to the lessons teach

Both a better place trying to reach

While dodging the loss of spirit this disease tries to leach
