April 14, 2016 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Ex-Spouses Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For April 14, 2016. Only 281 days to go in President Obama’s pathetic lame duck term. Political theater continues as Megyn Kelley met with Trump Wednesday morning for about an hour “to clear the air.” Maybe Trump realizes he has a major problem with women and a good step in the right direction would be to stop attacking women like Kelley. A rally in New York City turned out 27,000 supporters in Washington Square Park, a number that surpassed Obama’s campaign rally there in 2008 of 24,000. HRC’s listless, unexciting campaign would have to pay attendees 50 dollars a head to get a turnout of half that amount. Tonight watch the fireworks at the HRC Sanders debate—wonder if Sanders really lashes out at HRC’s lack of judgment. Putin, emboldened by Obama’s perceived weakness orders his jets into a dangerous game of chicken against USS Cook in international waters in the Baltic http://alaskanpoet.blogspot.com/2016/04/russian-jets-buzz-uss-cook-on-baltic-sea.html. In a welcome to the 21st Century moment better late than never, Saudi Arabia stripped its religious police of their arrest powers. Obama is considering declassifying some 28 pages of a report that may detail the extent of involvement of Saudi Arabia in the 911 attacks and will make a determination in 60 days. As always, I hope  you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Three Dog Night, factoids of interest, a relevant quote from Jim Samuels, while looking forward to enjoying some pecans to munch on, blessed with a positive attitude and  secure in  the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or  anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem  at a great price  tailored to the event and the recipient. On this day in:
a. 1775 Benjamin Franklin and Benjamin Rush founded in Philadelphia the Society for the Relief of Free Negroes Unlawfully Held in Bondage, the colonies’ first abolitionist group.
b. 1860 President Abraham Lincoln was shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth, dying the next day to become the first president to be assassinated in office.

d. 1988 the Soviet Union signed an agreement to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan which it did in 1989 thereby ending its “Vietnam experience” in which some 1,000,000 Afghanis were killed and some 6,000,000 were turned into refugees.
e. 2014  276 school girls were abducted by a jihadist group now affiliated with ISIS, Boko Haram, from a school in Chibok in Northeastern Nigeria and have not been freed but probably have been sold into slavery.
Reflections on divorce and why having a civil and noncombative relationship is critical: "A wife lasts only for the length of the marriage, but an ex-wife is there for the rest of your life." Jim Samuels noted American author. How true it is as hate and anger will eat a person alive and will exude from your pores driving friends away.
