Ridley's Believe It Or Not April 14 History Ex-Spouse Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not—April 14 2015 Trust your Taco Tuesday is proving to be a good one. As always, I  hope you enjoy the holidays and observances albeit somewhat meager today, factoids of interest, a music video of Soul and Inspiration,  and on Ex-Spouse Day, a profound but unlistened to quote by noted divorce attorney Laura Wasser, anticipating a bowl of shelled pecans to munch on or cook with, blessed  with a positive attitude even though you know you will have to wade through tons of spam in your inbox, and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable event like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
       1.  Black Day (Korea)—commiserating those unfortunates who did not receive gifts on Valentine’s Day (women) or White Day (men) and observed by wearing black to mourn the lack of relationships and eating a bowl of
Jajangmyeon, a noodle covered in a black bean sauce.
       2. Ex-Spouse Day—commemorating at least in California having a 50 percent chance of having one and hoping that one can find redeeming traits that caused you to get married in the first place; being on good terms with an ex-spouse leads to a lot less stress, especially if kids are involved. Ironic today is also National Be Kind to Lawyers Day which if you do have an ex-spouse you might find it difficult to be kind to any member of the Family Law Bar, especially the one who represented your ex-spouse.
      3. 1966 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1966 on a three week run Soul and Inspiration by the Righteous Brothers a duo that recorded from 1965 to 1973 and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. Here is a music video of the Righteous Brothers performing Soul and Inspiration:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v83UX1AY8Gs
      4.
National Pecan Day—great nut especially when turned into a pecan pie for desert.
      5. Don’t Stay Calm Panic Day—celebrating not a dyslectic first responder trying to evacuate people from a building in the which the fire alarm has just gone off but rather the birthday of John Bell aka the Alaskanpoet JB, guitarist and singer for the band Widespread Panic, on this day in 1962.

On this day in
     a. 1775 the first abolitionist society, The Society for the Relief of Free Negroes Unlawfully Held in Bondage, was organized in Philadelphia by Benjamin Franklin and Benjamin Rush.
     b. 1860 the first Pony Express Rider arrived in San Francisco arriving from St. Joseph, Missouri in the then unheard of record for the delivery of mail from St. Joseph of 10 days.
     c. 1865 President Lincoln was mortally shot in the Ford Theater by John Wilkes Booth.
     d. 1912 the “unsinkable” RMS Titanic on her maiden voyage, fortunately with only 60% of the number of passengers she could carry, hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic at 23.40  and sank in approximately three hours with the loss of over 1500 lives.

     e. 2003 the Human Genome Project was completed with an accuracy of 99.99%.
Great advice on the divorce process that creates ex-spouses which is too often lost in the feeding frenzy of divorce lawyers seeking fees from the parties with an intensity that makes an attack of piranhas look like an attack of fish that have lost all their teeth: “Once you do embark upon the separation or divorce process, it is very important to remember three key things: Be kind, be reasonable, be brief. Remember that this person will no longer be your spouse, but he or she will continue to be your co-parent, family member, and perhaps business partner in certain assets or entities.” Laura Wasser, an American divorce lawyer specializing in high profile celebrity divorce cases. One can only hope that her fellow member of the Family Law Bar and their clients follow that advice.
