Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For March 19, 2018 On the potential
terrorist front, Austin has been hit with another bombing, its fourth with this
one being detonated by a trip wire sending two victims to the hospital with injuries;
on the rhetoric front the Blues continue to foment dangerous over the top rhetoric
against President Trump with the latest being spewed by Rep. Suozzi of Long
Island, another Swamp denizen who has not worked in the private sector, who at
a town hall meeting urged attendees to exercise their 2nd Amendment
rights against the president if he fails to follow the Constitution (when will
these Pelosi delusionists throw away the dog whistles of violence and accept
the fact their failed and pathetic candidate lost?); Blue Council Member in the
Swamp Trayon White, Sr. let his stupidity and bias get the better of him when
he blamed the recent storm hitting New England on the Jews who in his mind are
responsible for climate change (this is what the face of anti-Semitism looks
like and sadly it is alive and well among far too many blacks in the Swamp);
Ralph Ellison, the rabid leftist who is the Deputy Chair of the DNC, is
desperately back pedaling from the rabid bigot Louis Farrakhan who earlier in
his political career he had supported; really refreshing news out of Saudi Arabia
from the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman who as he pushes the modernization of
that feudal country has declared the women are absolutely the equal of men;
Schiff like many of his Blue colleagues continues to make a fool of himself by
criticizing the firing of felon Andrew McCabe; hiatus on being shot to death in
Chicago is over with through March 18, 2018, 454 people shot, of whom 86 have
died.
As always,
I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Ed
Sheeran; factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that your
day is not lugubrious and a relevant quote by Bruce Willis on gun control, secure in the
knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like
birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can
provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the
event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. National Wellderly Day—celebrating those people over the age of 80 who are capable of
living life to its fullest extent despite arthritis and other chronic diseases
with a positive upbeat attitude and outlook on life.
2. Certified Nurses Day—commemorating the certification of registered nurses in specialized
areas of nursing like surgery or intensive care.
3. 2017 Number One Song— the number one song in 2017 on a run of 12 weeks in that
position “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGwWNGJdvx8
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “lugubrious” which means mournful
and describes Hillary supporters to a tee.
5. Die Hard But Bald Easy-- celebrating the birth on this day in 1955 of action movie hero
Bruce Willis whose violent movies make a mockery of Hollywood celebrities’
efforts to impose gun control on their law abiding fans.
On
this day
in:
a. 1945 With the Soviets closing in on Berlin and realizing the
war was lost
Adolf Hitler ordered that all factories and the country’s infrastructure be destroyed, an order which Speer and the German Army wisely ignored.

b. 1954 Willie Mosconi set a record that still stands by sinking
526 balls without a miss at an exhibition at the
East High Billiard Club in Springfield, Ohio.

c. 1962 Bob Dylan released his first album Bob Dylan.
d. 1982 Argentine Marines landed on South Georgia Island in the
Falklands precipitating the Falklands War which Argentina lost along with 649
of its troops.
e. 1987 in another example of the reptilian brain running wild,
televangelist Jimmy Bakker hit by a growing sex scandal was forced to resign as
leader of the PTL Club and turn the reins over to Jerry Falwell.
Reflections on gun control that is frank and honest not hypocritical:
“If you take guns away from legal gun owners, then the only people who would
have guns would be the bad guys. Even a pacifist would get violent if someone
were trying to kill him or her. You would fight for your life, whatever your
beliefs.” Bruce Willis He is spot on right with that observation and after the Parkland
shooting it is clear that even having a cop on scene is not a guarantee of
safety. Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my
