Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For June
13, 2016.
Unfortunately still 241 days to go in President Obama’s pathetic lame duck term
as this country was rocked by the worst mass shooting in its history in Orlando
by Omar Makeen who was calling 911 while killing 50 proclaiming his allegiance
to ISIS and yet Obama still cannot proclaim the violence as Radical Islam nor
can Hillary but Obama can express his useless outrage and bemoan the lack of
gun control. Another example of revisionist editing now prevalent with the
Blues, the paperback version of the rag “Hard Choices” which just went on sale
has eliminated section praising her support of the TPP which both Sanders and
Trump have railed against. I trust your Monday
while not great due to the Orlando massacre will show that we will unite
against the forces of radical Islam even if many of our leaders like Obama and
Hillary Clinton are unwilling to do so.
As always, I
hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Sammy
Davis, Jr., factoids of interest, a relevant quote from Daniel Ellsberg
while looking forward to enjoying some cool cucumbers, blessed with a positive
attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for
any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know
that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a
great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only

their garden fully functional full of flowers or vegetables.

4. National Cucumber Day—celebrating a tasty salad treat which
can turn itself into a great pickle.
5. Brat Age Queen—celebrating
the birthday on this day in 1962 of Ally Sheedy who appeared in such films as
the The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo’s Fire.
On this day in:
a. 1944 in a new page of the
technology of war the first V-1 rockets, one week after the D-Day landings, were
launched against London; fortunately only two of the eleven rockets hit targets
and even more fortunate for the Allies the V-1s were not launched before the
Allies’ armada concentrated in English ports set sail for France.
b. 1966 in a landmark decision which truly distinguishes this
nation, SCOTUS in Miranda v. Arizona ruled that police must inform those
being arrested of their rights against self incrimination and their right to
counsel.
c. 1970 in song from the musical grave of bands, the Beatles’
song “The Long and Winding Road” became the Beatles last number 1 hit in the
United States following their breakup on April 10, 1970.
d. 1971 the The New York
Times began publication of the Pentagon
Papers, leaked by Daniel Ellsberg, which detailed the deception on behalf
of this government to justify support and rationale for the disaster known as
the Vietnam War.
e. 2005 a jury at Santa Monica found Michael Jackson not guilty
of molesting 13 year old Gavin Arvizo.
Reflections
on the aftermath of the Orlando massacre from the person who leaked the
Pentagon Papers: “Obama is making a choice now that will lead to the deaths of
many thousands of civilians in Afghanistan by American hands. By ordinary
standards of presidents, he is a decent man. But those standards aren't good
enough. He's in a position either to kill or not to kill, and he's made the
decision to kill.” Daniel Ellsberg Obama may be a decent man but given
his refusal to remove his PC blinders one might wonder if it is us who by those
decisions will be killed.
