Autism Pride A Soldier At Starbucks

One of the great dividends of doing Ridley’s Believe It Or Not for each given day
Is one never knows what chance meetings might come into play
Today was the observance of Autism Pride
Entering a Starbucks at Harbor and Wilson at the end of ride
Stood in line forever waiting for a Gold Card iced tea
Watching a young woman pounding on her computer keys
Alaskans especially those raised in Petersburg are not known for being shy
This poet is always ready to ask what you are doing and why
This young woman, bless her soul works in the autism field
On this day it is the creativity not the disease perception that can be a shield
A chance encounter or a simple fact
That poets are touched so often by tranquility and coincidence that others lack
Her name will unknown remain
But her work and efforts worthy of lasting fame
