Ridley's Believe It Or Not Deceber 19 History Oatmeal Muffin Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not—December 19, 2014:    Trust your Friday is a good one and that you are bracing for another day of battling the crowds in the malls.   As always I  hope you enjoy the holidays and observances, factoids and a relevant quote from Thomas Sowell,  with a smile on your face, knowing that this may be the day to splurge on a cupcake or two, blessed with a positive attitude even though you know you will have to wade through tons of spam in your inbox, and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for a memorable event or the coming Christmas, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.  You need only contact me for details.
         1.  Puck  Day—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1988 of Paulina Gretsky the daughter of perhaps the greatest hockey players of all time Wayne Gretsky.
         2. National Underdog Day—recognizing the those who are not at the top but the bottom but can and do rise up to overcome adversity.
        3.  National Oatmeal Muffin Day—celebrating a great way to start your morning—lots of fiber and with honey a great taste.
        4.   1961 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song on this day in 1961 The Lion Sleeps Tonight by the Tokens.
On this day in
      a. 1972 Apollo 17 the last manned lunar spacecraft returned to Earth.
       b. 1974 Nelson Rockefeller was sworn in as Vice President replacing Spiro Agnew who had resigned due to criminal misconduct.
      c. 1998 President Clinton became the second president to be impeached; he was not convicted by the Senate.
Reflection on impeachment: Neither your life nor my life, nor the future of this country, will be affected in the slightest by whether Linda Tripp is naughty or nice. But if any president is able to commit crimes with impunity by using the vast powers and perquisites of his office to cover up, then we will have a danger of corruption and abuse of power that can only grow with the passing years and generations.” Thomas Sowell, noted political commentator. If Hillary wins in 2016 we can only hope Bill learned his lesson and will not remain a sexual predator of young interns.
