Reflections on Christmas 2014
Regardless of age,
this is the most magical of all of the seasons
Where even adults
watching children can be ruled by magic not the confines of reason
Christmas, Hanukah,
and Kwanzaa all celebrated but absent until 2030 is Ramadan,
A special time for
peace and voices to pray that hatred and the dogs of war see not another dawn
Regardless of our
race or creed we are all human beings on this tiny blue speck
More so than ever
in our relations with each other domestic and foreign a sense of love to inject
This is a season
that needs to the rush for material gifts transcend
Quickly forgotten,
consumed or discarded a more lasting gift one needs to send
Not found in any
big box retailer or even online
But it flourishes within
and it will endure until the end of your time
It needs no
ribbons, needs no colorful wrappings
But it is the core
of our humanity trappings
It is the gift of
peace given freely to all you might greet
It is the
tranquility that enables the soul to overcome any impending defeat
Unlike the material
gifts that tarnish and an attic soon find
This is a gift that
grows, adding to the soul, to the heart, adding to the mind
This Christmas, this
season make sure the gift of peace is on your list
Without it, we poor
humans will have a hard time for the soul to subsist
Forget about Ponce
de Leon and his fountain of youth swampy quest
Look only into the
eyes of children dreaming of Santa and you will see the aging arrest
Whether you be
Christian, Jew, Atheist, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist or Kwanzaa black
Seek the gift of
peace to help keep the humanity of this planet on the right track
