Ridley’s Believe It Or
Not For November 1, 2017 Hope everyone has recovered
from the sugar highs of their children or grandchildren from treats last night;
our inane immigration policy that is not merit based but relationship based
with the roulette wheel of 50,000 visas in a lottery claimed 8 victims and
injured 12 when jihadist Sayfullo Saipov who won the visa lottery in 2010 rented
a Home Depot truck and drove it along a bike path in NYC killing 8 and wounding
12; but failed in his mission to be martyred when police shot but did not kill
him (from his hospital bed he was proud of his deeds, no remorse but a request
for an ISIS flag in his room); Trump condemned the attack, condemned the lottery
visa which he will end, and called on Congress to pass legislation to have
immigration based solely on merit which prompted the chief Swamp denizen for the
Blues, Chuck Schumer, a sponsor of the lottery that brought this scumbag into
the U.S. to lambast Trump for dividing the country (he makes this poet want to
retch); calls to have this animal charged as an enemy combatant and sent to
Gitmo where he can join the other scumbags there for the rest of his miserable
life (if his wife is not an American citizen, deport her and her two kids to
the country of origin or allow them to stay in if he becomes the proverbial
canary and sings truthfully about ISIS contacts but do it soon before he is
lawyered up by the ACLU); the DNC is trying to fill 8 slots in its IT
department but cisgender white males need not apply (such hypocrisy and yet another
reason for males whether deplorable or not to vote Red even if they are having
a hard time governing) Michelle Obama at the first and hopefully last gathering
sponsored by the Obama Foundation was the featured speaker and once again
claiming men feel they are entitled because women protect them showed that she
was using too much pesticides in her garden at the WH; in another example of
like her husband Michelle Obama could not run a business if her life depended
on it, Melania Trump is running her office with a staff of 9 as opposed to I
never met a bill paid by the taxpayers I didn’t like Michelle Obama who had a
staff of 24; almost a stuck record or a gruesome remake of Groundhog
Day, Chicago style, the carnage in Chicago continued unabated with
total shootings in 2017 through October 31 increasing to 3156 and the death
toll increasing to 546 and still nothing is being done to hinder or prevent the
killings of minorities by minorities.
As always,
I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a relevant quote from Ralph
Waldo Emerson on poetry, a music link to Boyz II Men, factoids of interest for
this day in history, while hoping that any one who views your laciniated jeans
believe they are designers but secure

like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet

1. World Vegan Day—created by the head of
the Vegan Society in the UK, Louise Wallis in 1994 to commemorate the founding
of that group in 1994 to promote the vegan lifestyle and its many benefits not
the least of which is a significant reduction in the use of energy required to
produce fodder for all the animals slaughtered and in the case of fish
reduction in chemical additives and fuel used to catch fish or process them
when caught or raised.

in 1993 to promote in children proper oral hygiene by brushing properly at

4. Word
of the Day—today’s word of the day is “laciniate” which means bordered with
a fringe either deliberately or through wear and tear.
5. A
Screwball With A Purpose—celebrating the birth on this day in 1960 of Fernando Venezuela,
a left hander who pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers and won both the Cy Young
Award and Rookie of the year in 1981 with a distinctive windup and a screwball
that turned him into a right hander throwing a curveball (L.A. could have used
him tonight as they lost game 7 to the Houston Astros).
On this day
in:
a. 1960 President Kennedy announced his intent if elected to form
the Peace Corps.
b.

Reflections on being a vegan: ““You have just dined, and however
scrupulously the slaughterhouse is concealed in the graceful distance of miles,
there is complicity.” Ralph Waldo Emerson, great American philosopher
