A Kneeling Protest Of One Raider In Mexico City

On Sunday both the Patriots and the Raiders came South to a football game play
The game was played in the high altitude of Mexico City, not in the U.S.A.
While Americans are bailing out from their TVs in disgust over players taking a knee
In Mexico City the game sold out in the shortest of time  with eager fans wondering if Brady would pass for over 300 yards in country number three
The Mexican anthem was played before the game had begun
The fans and all the players stood in respect in the warm Mexican Sun
The American National Anthem was played and the fans and all players stood save one
An Oakland Raider the issue of respect for flag and racism he chose to repugn
Kneeling as opposed to standing brings back memories of the Black Power closed fist salute
At the awards ceremony Thomas and Carlos gold and bronze wearing only black socks to represent black poverty’s strong roots
Were to be expelled from the Olympics but the U.S. refused
Olympic dictator Brundidge said if that’s what  you chose
The whole track and field team would be expelled
The U.S. caved and Thomas and Carlos were on their way
Racism still exists in this nation today on both sides of the color line
As a divided nation seeks ways to the tools to solve or allay the problem find
For those one percent who have donned the colors and gone into harm’s way to protect that American flag
It is a hard and bitter pill to swallow especially for those in combat dodging IED’s praying they still had enough grenades and mags
Has to be a better way to bring the issue of racism to the discussion table without to the flag linking
Or all we will accomplish is not one bit of racial improvement angry as a chance for unity was sinking
