Ridley’s
Believe It Or Not For July 23, 2016.
Unfortunately still 181 days to go in President Obama’s pathetic lame duck term
and 232 days since hiding Hillary has held a formal press conference; WikiLeaks
releasing emails that show from the very start the Debbie Wasserman Schulz and
the DNC were doing everything in their power to torpedo Sanders’ campaign (hope
the passionate Sanders supporters retaliate by voting for Trump or staying
home); after slamming Trump from his delusional view of the world that it is
less violent than it has ever been, nine Germans in Munich shot by an Iranian German
are reposing in a morgue; three Floridians have just been arrested for
conspiring to aid ISIS; HRC picks Senator Kaine as a running mate who back in
last November had the integrity to admit that Obama in essence has no strategy
to combat the chaos of radical Islam (will he bring it today—doubt it); in
Obama’s non violent world delusion, two ISIS suicide bombers killed 64 and
wound over two hundred peaceful protestors demonstrating that a new power line
would bypass their community (so outrageous that even the “paragons of
tolerance, the Taliban” condemned the attack; in yet another example of fraud
and abuse that plagues government spending programs, the DOJ charge three
individuals in Florida with defrauding Medicare of $1 billion; HRC lost 11,000
potential voters as the Virginia Supreme Court threw out Democratic and Hillary
governor Terry MacAuliffe’s executive order granting 200,000 felons the right
to vote; Governor Jerry Brown overturned the recommendation of the California
Parole Board and refused to grant parole to Leslie Van Houten, a Charles Manson
follower who participated in the Sharon Tate murder over 40 years ago.
Going to www.lyingcrookedhillary.com is a great way to start your
day along of course with www.alaskanpoet.blogspot.com
As always, I
hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Rosemary
Clooney, factoids of interest, a relevant quote from an anonymous source while
looking forward to enjoying a large bowl of vanilla ice cream, blessed with a
positive attitude and secure in the
knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like
birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can
provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored
to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. National
Day of the Cowboy—observed
on the fourth Saturday of July to commemorate our western heritage; this would
be a good day to go to a stable and rent a horse for a leisurely ride.
2. National Clear the Shelters Day—a dog is always a man’s best
friend and so is a feline but not if they are in a shelter waiting for ultimate
execution if not adopted; today would be a great day to go to your local animal
shelter as opposed to a pet store and adopt a pet. Love by an animal is not a
function of pedigree or price tag.
3. 1951 Number One Song—celebrating the number
one song in 1951 on a run of 6 weeks in that position “Come On-a My House” by Rosemary
Clooney. Here is a link to Rosemary Clooney performing the song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mriXncI96lw
A long time smoker who battled alcohol and prescription drug addiction she
continuing recording albums until her death in 2002 from--you guessed it—lung cancer.
4. National Vanilla Ice Cream Day—perfect
time to enjoy this summer favorite especially if topped with berries that are
now in abundance at cheap prices.
5. Burn
the Blue Dress Wear Red Instead—celebrating the birthday of a real
victim of the war on woman waged by Hillary Clinton with a vengeance, Monica
Lewinsky who was ravaged by the media and Clintonites over her affair with Bill
Clinton, our noted ex-President and sexual predator who is probably licking his
chops at the opportunity to roam the White House halls in search of young female
interns. A bright woman who this poet hopes will come out in support of Donald Trump
who as his daughter Ivanka attests is when it comes to employment gender
neutral.
On this day in:
a. 1829 William Austin
Burt patented the typographer, the precursor to the typewriter.
b. 1914 Austria-Hungary
issued a series of ultimatums to Serbia
is allow Austria to determine who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his
wife; Serbia agreed to all but one demand and Austria declared war five days
later which quickly became the calamity known as World War I.
c. 1967 in
Detroit one of the worst riots in American history began along 12th Street
after police raided an unlicensed after hour bar and quickly escalated to the
point of the governor sending in the Michigan National Guard and LBJ sending in
combat forces of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions and
when it ended four days later 43 people were dead, over a 1,000 injured, 2,000
structures damaged and over 7,000 people arrested.
d. 1984 Vanessa
Williams became the first Miss America to resign after nude photos of her were
published in Penthouse Magazine.
e. 1992 in what
the Vatican must now regret a commission led by Joseph Ratzinger found that
limiting rights of homosexuals and non-married couples was not the equivalent
of discrimination based on race or gender.
Reflections on why adopting a dog today would be a great idea for
its new owner: “It
came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with
them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their
heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I
will become as generous and loving as they are.” Anon How
true, how true! Please enjoy the poems on events
