Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 22, 2016, first day of
fall on the Autumnal Equinox
Only 48 waning days to go until the only polls that matter close
for Trump to continue his pivot before we elect a new president; in an is it
Memorex or live, the DOJ in its charge of attempted murder and terror against
Rahami omits ISIS allegiance in his diary; after Wells Fargo’s president Stumpf
took rightful heat from the Senate, Mylan’s greedy CEO took the House grilling
seat for raising the price of its EpiPen; another night of violence with one
person being shot in Charlotte (how does looting stores advance the cause and
discussion over potential excessive police force?); Trump at a rally supported “stop
and frisk” as a means to stop the carnage of black on black killings in cities
like Chicago; Feds refused to raise rates and the market soared yesterday and
is off to a roaring start today; Russia sends its only decrepit aircraft
carrier into the waters off the coast of Syria; another red line in the sand
that is totally feckless as a U.S. base in Iraq attacked with poison gas—safe bet
that our feckless president will go play golf or orally just berate; late breaking
news of another “pressure cooker“ bomb found in New York; in yet another
condemnation of the failed socialist policies of Venezuela that have left the
government on the risk of collapse, Peru’s president slammed the government
over its spending and impending collapse; in a really chilling report, ISIS is
reported to have killed 6 boys for the crime of playing soccer—when will the
civilized world including all Arab nations come to their senses with or without
Obama and send troops to kill every last one of these monsters in their caliphate?
As Trump
is trying to become more presidential, going to www.lyingcrookedhillary.com is a great way to start your day
along of course withwww.alaskanpoet.blogspot.com and reading Clinton Cash would be a great
read to understand the quid pro quo mentality of the Clintons.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s

1. American Business Woman’s Day—created by Congressional
Resolution in 1983 to honor the millions of businesses owned and operated by
women who today are more likely than men to start a business.
2. One Web Day—celebrated since 2006 to promote
awareness of the need to promote and foster the viability of the internet which
has become an essential aspect of our daily life and commerce.
3. 1946 Number One Song—celebrating the number
one song in 1946 on a run of two weeks in that position “Five Minutes More” by Frank
Sinatra. Here is a recording of Frank Sinatra performing the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vkkDnV0aJM
4. National Ice Cream Cone Day—in the days before we had radical
Islam and the threat of radicalized Syrian refugees time to celebrate the
introduction of the ice cream cone by Syrian immigrant Ernest Hamwi who was
selling a crispy waffle which when a fellow ice cream concessionaire ran out of
dishes folded his waffle into the shape of a cornucopia and added a scoop of
ice cream—presto the ice cream cone.
5. A True Blue Blood—celebrating the birth on this day in 1924 of a reasonably successful minor league pitcher but who bombed in the Show but gained Hall of Fame status as a manager of the Dodgers, Tommy Lasorda whose motto was “Treat baseball players like human beings and they will play like Superman.”

On this day
in:
a. 1692 the last of those convicted of witchcraft were hanged
and those not hanged were eventually released bringing to an end a very sad
part of our history as it related to tolerance.
b. 1927 Jack Dempsey lost the “Long Count” heavyweight
championship fight to Gene Tunney.
c. 1975 Sara Jane Moore failed in her attempt to assassinate
President Gerald Ford. She was sentenced to life in prison but was released after
serving 32 years of her sentence after Ford’s death in 2006.
d. 1991 the Dead Sea Scrolls were made available to the public
for viewing at the Huntington Library in San Marino, California.
e. 1993 in the deadliest train wreck in Amtrak’s history, a
barge struck a railway bridge over the
Big Bayou Canot near Mobile, Alabama causing the Sunset Limited which arrived
eight minutes later to derail and plunge into the bayou, killing 47 people and permanently ending the
Sunset Limited’s service between New Orleans and Orlando. I a deadly twist of
fate, the Sunset Limited’s departure from New Orleans was delayed some 90
minutes due to air-conditioning problems which had that not occurred the train
would have long since gone over the bridge before the barge struck it.
Reflections on how to advance in business:” The most
important factor in determining whether you will succeed isn't your gender,
it's you. Be open to opportunity and take risks. In fact, take the worst, the
messiest, the most challenging assignment that you can find, and then take
control." Angela Braly, former CEO of WellPoint Great advice to any man or woman starting or
entering a business. Please enjoy the
