On the Ukraine War front, Zelensky was in Washington pleading for continuation of military aid package to Ukraine must be accompanied with a major increase in funding to secure the border even though Biden has earmarked for release $200 million already approved. U.S. intelligence opining that Russia has lost a staggering 87% of the troops it started the invasion of the Ukraine with which if the intel is correct one has to wonder when Russian mothers seeing a constant stream of coffins containing their sons calls it quits.
On Hamas Israel war front, the General Assembly again overwhelmingly passed a resolution demanding a cease fire which Israel and the U.S. opposes. More talk of Israel pumping in seawater to flush the Hamas terrorists using them as havens from IDF airstrikes. Only problem is that the 100 Israelis and Americans still held hostage would likely drown with the Hamas guarding them.
In the Red presidential race the 2 dwarfs, de Santis and Haley, are campaigning big time to replace Trump as the first test with the voters, the Iowa Caucuses nears. Chriss Christie bet the farm on wining the campaign on winning in New Hampshire but Governor Sununu’s endorsement of Haley should his campaign, leaving only Vivek Ramaswami who appears less qualified to be presidential timber each and every day.
On the Toy safety front Amazon, Walmart and Target have stopped selling water beads marketed to children when exposed to liquid after ingestion they can swell multiple times to block the intestines causing all sorts of problems.
On the economic front, the Fed has elected to keep interest rates where they are for the rest of 2023 but raised the possibility of 3 cuts in 2024 which would be good news for the real estate market suffering under high interest rates.

Noted Holidays: National Popcorn String Day: Created by Foodimentary  and first celebrated on this day in 2010 and thereafter. It honors the tradition when getting the store to buy ornaments for the Christmas Tree in the days of horses and buggies and wagons was difficult or time consuming and had the added attraction of being able to be used as a bird feeder after the Christmas Tree was taken down.
Word of the Day: The word of the day as we continue with words starting with “b” is “blewit” which means an edible toadstool which given the fact that most toadstools can cause sever medical problems which ingested including death one needs to be certain that one has a blewit on their plate and not as a choice blown it.
Song of the Day: Leaving the number 1 songs  on this day in 1940’s to come back to the number song in 2012 in the U.S.A.  was  “Diamonds” by Rihanna on a run of 3 weeks to share number 1 status with 12 other songs, while 6 achieved their 1st number 1 single. Here is a recording with lyrics of Lorde performing “Royals”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlcIKh6sBtc

Quote by Iris Chang, Author of the Rape of Nanking: “Germany is today a better place because Jews have not allowed that country to forget what it did during World War II. The American South is a better place for its acknowledgement of the evil of slavery and the one hundred years of Jim Crowism that followed emancipation. Japanese culture will not move forward until it too admits not only to the world but to itself how improper were its actions during World War II.”
