February 20, 2023 Ridley's Believe It Or Not

Don Lemon has gone to the woodshed to be chastised by the head of CNN Chris Licht and will undergo 2 days of training before will appear on CNN. We hope the “training” will help him to learn that biased based attacks on conservative Red women are no longer acceptable ere his time on CNN will be numbered. Kviv has been ground zero for hundreds of Russian missile attacks and unlike cities in Israel is protected by Iron Dome from death and destruction. Could in be that our Defense Department was terrified for his safety in visiting Kviv today and notified Russia of his trip? As the war in Ukraine approaches its one year anniversary, news of a Kremlin secret plan to within 7 years bring Belarus but into the old Soviet Union fold. What Biden fails to comprehend is that any decrease in the price of oil and natural gas due to an unshackling of our domestic production will threaten Putin’s ability to wage war in the Ukraine. The California State Bar is in a world of hurt as one of its members Sara Jacqueline King who was suspended  in 2022 for nonpayment of bar dues and re-admitted has been sued for taking over $10 million of a client’s money to loan fully secured to third parties but instead blew the funds gambling in Las Vegas. In what started as a real Stanford Women shellacking of UCLA turned into in the 4th quarter a very close game with UCLA leading into the last minutes of the game before Stanford went ahead to win by 71-66. I hope you find Ridley's Believe It Or Not worth your time reading and if not please respond with an “Unsubscribe” in the message.  As  a kid I used to laugh at the antics of the cartoon rooster Foghorn Leghorn who was a harmless blow hard not like the rooster recently reported on in Cork, Ireland who killed a farmer on whose property he had been moved to for attacking a child by puncturing his leg causing him to bleed to death (here is the face of the killer rooster that should scare anyone: Don Lemon has gone to the woodshed to be chastised by the head of CNN Chris Licht and will undergo 2 days of training before will appear on CNN. Ridley’s Believe It Or Not February 20, 2023
Noted Holidays: Presidents’ Day: Celebrating the birthday of George Washington on February 22, 1732 and the birthday of Abraham Lincoln on February 12, 1809 but celebrated on the third Monday to give our hard working federal workers a 3 day weekend.
National Cherry Pie Day: Celebrating pies made from this delicious fruit which has not even appeared on cherry trees in Washington, D.C. but probably observed to honor the myth of honesty of a young George Washington who refused to lie to his father that he had cut down a cherry tree on the family farm.
Word of the Day:  The word of the day is “aiger” which means a tidal wave occurring when a flood tide is channeled  into a narrow inlet which if one lived near the Qiantang river at Hangzhou in China, one would face a tidal wave which could exceed 4 meters high, spreading out over 3 kilometers wide and traveling with speeds in excess of 24 kilometers an hour.
Number 1 Song: The number 1 song on this day in 1953 was “Till I Waltz Again with You” by  Teresa Brewer on a run of 5 weeks to share with 9 other songs that achieved number one status. Here is Teresa Brewer performing  “Till I Waltz Again with You”:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZkTC0YmfVY
February 20 Famous Birthdays:  Cindy Crawford, an iconic model born on this day in 1966 at Dekalb, Illinois who graduated a valedictorian of her high school and was admitted to Northwestern University on a scholarship to study chemical engineering but dropped out after one quarter to pursue a career in modeling which would make her famous dominating most of the fashion magazines with well over 500 appearances. She retired from active modeling in 2000 to launch  a cosmetics line and a line of home furnishings. Still alive and well and as attractive as ever.
           February 20 Notable Events
           1.     1685—French explorer Rene-Robert Cavelier established the Fort St. Louis colony which by 1688 half of the settlers had died from disease and the other half killed by attacks of Karankawa Indians, save 5 children who were adopted the tribe.
           2.     1942—USN Lieutenant Edward O’Hare became the first American ace in World War II by shooting down 5 Japanese Betty bombers on this day enroute to attack his carrier. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and after a period of training pilots to face Japanese tactics to be able to survive combat returned to combat and unfortunately on November 26, 1943 while flying a Wildcat F6 fighter on a night mission to intercept Betty bombers armed with torpedoes was shot down and his body and aircraft never recovered. He will be remembered daily by the thousands of passengers who pass through the terminals at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport from or to their planes.
           3.     1962—After Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin completed one Earth orbit on April 12, 1961, John Glenn in Friendship 7 became the first American to orbit the Earth which he did for three times before splashing down safely in the ocean.
           4.     1986—The Soviet Union successfully launched into orbit its MIR space station where it would remain for 15 years, 10 which it was occupied.
           5.      2003—at a Great White concert at The Station, a nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island a pyrotechnic display part of the concert set fire to the acoustic padding in the walls of the stage, causing the building to be totally engulfed in less than 6 minutes, killing 100 and injuring some 230, making it the 4th deadliest nightclub fire in the nation.
Famous Quote on Notable Events Or Persons: Edward O’Hare’s Medal of Honor Citation: “For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in aerial combat, at grave risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty, as section leader and pilot of Fighting Squadron 3 on February 20, 1942. Having lost the assistance of his teammates, Lieutenant O'Hare interposed his fighter between his ship and an advancing enemy formation of 9 attacking twin-engine heavy bombers. Without hesitation, alone and unaided, he repeatedly attacked this enemy formation, at close range in the face of intense combined machine gun and cannon fire. Despite this concentrated opposition, Lieutenant O'Hare, by his gallant and courageous action, his extremely skillful marksmanship in making the most of every shot of his limited amount of ammunition, shot down 5 enemy bombers and severely damaged a sixth before they reached the bomb release point. As a result of his gallant action—one of the most daring, if not the most daring, single action in the history of combat aviation—he undoubtedly saved his carrier from serious damage.”
