Beaches May Be Open But Flags On Graves On Memorial Day Bannedob

As we prepare to honor those veterans who the ultimate sacrifice have paid
With social distancing and lock downs we will have to endure an absence of Memorial Day parades
An event of patriotism that is trumped by the pandemic that continues our way of living to invade
Even if the beaches are open in Newport Beach in lawns like sardines social distancing to evade
Thousands of young party goers barbecuing and guzzling wine and beer
They are young and from this virus have very little to fear
But if in Orange County there is a new case spike
Welcome to the new normal of what after pandemic restrictions will be like
Our nanny governors and mayors seem more ready to lockdown until there is a vaccine
Wave good bye to the economy and freedoms so integral to the American Dream
Even where you can keep six feet apart and wear a mask
In Suffolk County home to 500,000 buried vets the banning of a Memorial Day task
For years for Memorial Day Boy and Girl Scouts have upon veterans’ graves descended
To plant flags at their headstones so we the living can their sacrifice honor and comprehend
This year while the beaches may be open and the libations in crowded spaces flow
The Scouts with their flags to the cemeteries will not be permitted to go
