Rocky the Flying Squirrel Deja Vu

A cop's job is too often with danger fraught

Too  many times in the line of duty an officer responding to a call has been shot

Even a routine traffic stop of a motorist free from any warrants

Can without warning expose him or her to bullets in a rapid torrent

But who would expect danger in responding to a cookie jar thief call

A Brockport officer inside a kitchen would be grazedt by a squirrel flying from a kitchen wall

Not sure if the squirrel had been watching Rocky and Bullwinke or could even fly

But like a rocket past the officer the laws of gravity and aeronautics Rocket Squirrel defied

For the squirrel no shots fired from the officer’s gun

Only the sounds of laughter from officers totally stunned

No bites or rabies, only a few cookie crumbs on the floor

An a squired now on the ground dashing quickly out an open door
