Outrage Over Facebook Posting Of Stevens Killing

The idea that a killer could drive around Cleveland looking to sate a thrill
By picking out someone, anyone for a random kill
Sends out a it could have been me hairs rising on the nape of your neck chill
Worse when it’s posted on Facebook  and goes viral an idea how far we’ve gone downhill
What sick people we have become to relish in the view of real live death not make believe
A senior shot point blank in the head leaving a family trying to comprehend and grieve
This desire to have a moment of glory and fame by showing your killing to millions across this nation
Merits only our horror and complete and utter condemnation
But this violence curse
Sad to say gets even worse
It took the wizards at Facebook some two hours for the posting of the killing to cease
Facebook took the pious position that free speech is at stake and they cannot be the video police
They are not a TV broadcaster subject to the basic decency rules of the FCC is their spin
Post whatever you want and let the good times of Facebook Live advertising dollars roll in
But that position ignores the role of the copycat rapists, assaulter or killer
Craving for the fame or infamy of yet another sick thriller
How many more innocents have to die, be maimed or raped by copycats
Before Facebook’s algorithms  put an end to that
This outrage over posting for some two hours of a heinous crime
For Facebook could not have come at a worse time
Zuckerberg will be at the company’s annual developers’ conference in San Jose

Instead of touting technology strides,  outrage over the posting will be the buzz of the day
