For 11 days the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel held
Hopes with Netanyahu gone the parties might a peace agreement weld
Hamas must have in its ranks some readers of military history
Or their latest escapade might be somewhat of a mystery
Israel is not Oregon and great forests do not its coast dot
Gaza is not Japan yet the same result the Hamas leaders sought
Tired of seeing their rockets with Iron Dome being shot down in flames
With Israeli jets in response dropping bombs but not getting enough worldwide

They decided to a new strategy to kill Israelis try
Launching not rockets but fire balloons into the sky
Maybe with no metal too hard for Iron Dome radar find

The balloons launched soon came down and started two dozen fires
No Israeli was injured nor did any Israeli expire
Israel responded quickly with artillery blasts
World hopes for a another cease fire that will longer last
Balloons were multi-colored like what at a kid’s birthday party one would see
But this was no party only a failed attempt by Hamas to engage in a killing
spree
